US Senate pressed on emissions curbs

The US Senate must act quickly to pass carbon emission-curbing legislation if Washington expects large polluters such as China and India to cut their emissions, President Barack Obama’s special envoy for climate change said on Thursday.

With three months until United Nations talks in Copenhagen to negotiate a new international climate treaty, the US Senate is coming under increasing pressure to pass emission-limiting legislation.
