Resurgent US dollar to expose weakness in central Europe

Some of the biggest beneficiaries of the euro’s strength against the dollar this year have been the large economies of central Europe.

As the euro strengthened to a peak of $1.6018 against the dollar from a low of $1.445 on January 21, the currencies of the big central European countries rose even faster as traders bought them to take advantage of higher interest rates.
