Bank divided as deputy tells Wolfowitz to go

The civil war inside the World Bank reached the point of no return this week when one of Paul Wolfowitz’s two deputies called on him to go at a meeting of top bank managers.

Mr Wolfowitz is under pressure over his role in securing a large pay rise as part of a secondment deal for a Bank official with whom he was romantically involved.
