Ultimate test for highest office

From Mr V. Nagarajan.

Sir, History books tell us that the wise pharaohs of ancient Egypt appointed only eunuchs (born or surgically rendered so) to guard their harems as well as to serve as their ministers and high-ranking officers of state. In the wake of the exposure of International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s affair with one of his female staff members, and the other recent similar escapades of Paul Wolfowitz, former president of the World Bank, and Eliot Spitzer, former New York attorney-general, not to mention the Monica Lewinsky episode of former US president Bill Clinton, one wonders whether it should be made mandatory that aspirants for such high offices, if they are male, should be, irrespective of their other admirable attributes, also medically certified eunuchs.
