London suppliers forced to go ethical

Private sector suppliers are being forced to increase the diversity of their workforces and improve their green credentials to win contracts worth billions with London authorities.

The Greater London Authority Group, which includes Transport for London, the Metropolitan police and the London Development Agency, and spends £3bn ($5.8bn) a year on goods and services, has written new “responsible procurement” clauses into dozens of large contracts.
