F&C 'in a very awkward position'

A merger between Friends Provident and Resolution could leave F&C Asset Management, in which Friends holds 52 per cent, "in a very awkward position", says Andrew Mitchell, analyst at Fox Pitt Kelton.

F&C, best known as the manager of Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust, is in its first year of a three-year plan to reshape itself.
