ABA attacks US consumer agency proposal

Proposals for a Consumer Financial Protection Agency were attacked by the biggest US banking association on Wednesday as expensive, vague, contradictory and bureaucratic.

The agency is emerging as the most heavily criticised part of the Obama administration’s regulatory reform white paper but industry concerns are so far getting short shrift from many lawmakers.
