GdF and Eon braced for Brussels fine

Two of Europe’s largest utilities are braced for potentially heavy penalties from European Union competition authorities, which could come next week, as a decision looms over allegations that they had an agreement not to intrude on each other’s domestic gas markets.

The European Commission last year brought formal charges against Gaz de France, now part of the Suez group, and Germany’s Eon over suspected arrangements that stemmed from their joint ownership of the Megal pipeline.
