M&B warns on impact of January VAT increase

The planned rise in value added tax in January is likely to wipe out any earnings growth in 2010 at Mitchells & Butlers .

Adam Fowle, chief executive, on Thursday said that the pub group’s strong performance this year was unlikely to be repeated next year when VAT reverts from 15 per cent to 17.5 per cent.
