Market woes hit US consumer sentiment

US consumer confidence fell this month by the most since Hurricane Katrina amid volatility in financial markets and falling house prices.

The Conference Board said on Tuesday that its index of consumer sentiment fell by the most since the aftermath of the 2005 hurricane, falling to 105 in August from 111.9 in July.
