Britain’s changing nuclear landscape

Hitachi, the Japanese technology group, has announced a £700m deal to build new nuclear plants in the UK, buying the Horizon nuclear project from its German owners. This deal removes much of the uncertainty about the future of nuclear power generation in Britain.

By 2023, all but one of Britain’s currently generating nuclear power stations are scheduled to be shut down. This interactive graphic shows the development of nuclear power in the UK and projections for the future.
