Fed faith grows from April’s wary optimism

Federal Reserve policy­makers saw “some signs pointing to economic stabilisation” at their April meeting, but remained cautious about the prospects for recovery, the minutes revealed on Wednesday.

While policymakers thought the economic outlook had “improved modestly since March” they “continued to see significant downside risks to the economic outlook” and believed that recovery when it comes will be gradual.
