‘Torrent’ of job cuts on way, says survey

More than a quarter of employers are preparing to make workers redundant over the next 12 months, with the labour market standing “on the verge of a torrent of bad news”, an independent study says on Friday.

A survey of more than 700 employers in the private, public and voluntary sectors found that 26 per cent had “contingency plans to make new or further redundancies”.
