MTN chief aims for acquisitions

MTN, the Johannesburg-listed telecoms company, talked up the prospect of making more acquisitions in the next two to three years to achieve its target of becoming the leading mobile phone operator in emerging markets.

Phuthuma Nhleko, MTN’s chief executive, told the Financial Times that the company was looking for deals, and highlighted how its low leverage meant it could consider large transactions.
