Miliband faces anger over turbine plant

Ed Miliband was confronted on Wednesday by angry union officials over the government’s failure to prevent the closure of the Vestas wind turbine factory on the Isle of Wight.

The energy secretary blamed the failure of the business – the only turbine manufacturing facility in the UK – on insufficient demand for the product, caused primarily by Tory councils that had rejected proposed wind farms.
