Overview: Equities rally as oil sinks

Global equity markets enjoyed another broadly positive session on Thursday as encouraging US earnings reports – most notably from the investment bank JPMorgan – and a further drop in oil prices offset weak regional US economic data.

Stuart Schweitzer, global markets strategist at JPMorgan Private Bank, said stock markets had been due for some respite after being oversold at the start of the week.
