The wife of Radovan Karadzic, the most wanted Bosnian Serb war crimes fugitive, issued a public statement yesterday asking him to surrender "for the sake of the family".

The tearful plea from Ljiljana Karadzic on Bosnian Serb television was made after a series of unprecedented surrenders by other Bosnian Serb suspects indicted to the United Nations' tribunal for former Yugoslavia, in The Hague.
