Guarded reaction to €1bn Opel credit guarantee plea

German business and labour leaders reacted guardedly yesterday to calls for a government bail-out of the car industry.

Berlin said on Monday that it would consider granting Opel, the German arm of General Motors, a €1bn credit guarantee.
