Manitowoc and Illinois Tool Works have put their battle for Enodis on hold as they wait to hear whether the UK Takeover Panel will advise the restaurant equipment maker to establish a more formal auction process.

Enodis’s board, after receiving an initial takeover bid from US-based Manitowoc in April, has been forced to flip-flop its recommendation to shareholders several times, endorsing whichever bid has been highest.
