Dangers of globalisation overblown says OECD in move to calm fears

Public mistrust of globalisation is founded on legitimate concerns over the falling share of wages in national income and rising earnings inequality, but the threats are frequently overestimated, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development yesterday said.

The Paris-based think-tank for 30 wealthy nations insisted that globalisation was "compatible with high employment rates, provided the right domestic policies are in place". Countries should pursue policies to manage the insecurities of life in the new labour market, the organisation urged.
