Three-year budget freeze for News Intl

News International has frozen its titles' editorial budgets for the next three years, in the latest sign of cost pressures on publishers.

Les Hinton, News International chairman, told staff yesterday that reducing overheads would be "an ongoing priority for every part of the business", noting that NI costs have risen by £135m over three years.
