Insurers focus on drug top-up fees

Private health insurers are considering launching a range of products to cover “top-up” payments for drugs that are not provided on the National Health Service.

The move follows this week’s decision to allow patients to keep the rest of their NHS treatment if they choose to pay for additional cancer or other drugs that the service will not fund.
