Democrats at war as Bush backs McCain

The Democratic presidential race descended into acrimonious infighting on Wednesday with supporters of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama trading accusations that their candidates had concealed tax returns, failed to disclose ties to allegedly corrupt businessmen and intentionally misled voters.

The descent into open warfare follows Mrs Clinton’s victories in Ohio and Texas on Tuesday night, which shifted the campaign back into a contest that may last until August’s Democratic convention.
