Police in follow-up arrests in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwean police arrested 14,706 traders and others in a follow-up to slum demolitions this year, state media reported yesterday.

"Police have arrested street people, touts, illegal vendors, illegal foreign currency and fuel dealers who had crept back into Harare's central business district since the launch of Operation Siyapambili/ Hatidzokereshure [no going back] two weeks ago," the Herald newspaper said.
