Boy from the Gorbals with eye for a niche market

Willie Haughey could not resist the chance to put his new £20m headquarters on the spot where he was brought up, in a tenement in the Gorbals, renowned as one of Glasgow’s most deprived areas.

A leading Scottish entrepreneur and philanthropist, 51-year-old Mr Haughey is executive chairman of City Refrigeration Holdings, a facilities management group that employs 10,400 people across the UK and has an annual turnover of £240m.
