Novartis blames animal militants for raid

A Swiss pharmaceutical group and its senior executives have been targeted by a series of attacks similar to those staged in the past by animal-rights extremists on companies in the UK.

Novartis, based in Basel, said on Tuesday that activists had desecrated the grave of the parents of Daniel Vasella, its chief executive, and stolen his mother’s ashes, while arsonists had set fire to his hunting lodge.
