Lawyer’s case will test powers of extradition

A north London lawyer next week faces the unwanted prospect of becoming the first British national extradited to the US on corruption charges, in a case that opens a new front in Washington’s worldwide war on financial crime.

Legal experts say that the fortunes of Jeffrey Tesler – who is accused of funnelling millions of dollars to Nigerian government officials – may help decide whether other UK business people are dispatched across the Atlantic on corruption charges.
