US and Israel close to deal on arms sales

Israel and the US were on Sunday reported to be close to a deal that would give the Pentagon the right to vet Israeli weapons sales to third countries.

Agreement would mark the end to a long-running dispute over Israeli arms sales to China that overshadowed a visit at the weekend by Condoleezza Rice, US secretary of state.
