NY Fed starts debt purchase plan

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York began buying old Treasury securities from dealers on Wednesday, the first such operation that will see the bank buy up to $300bn over the next six months.

The New York Fed targeted 19 securities which matured between February 29, 2016 and February 15, 2019 and bought back $7.5bn from a total of $21.9bn offered by primary dealers.
