Generics pays NHS £12m over drug price claims

A second drug company has agreed to a multi-million settlement with the National Health Service over allegations of price-fixing in the supply of certain generic medicines.

Generics UK, part of Merck, the German drugs group, said yesterday that it had agreed to compensate the NHS by paying £12m, although there was no admission of liability on its part. It will also "provide co-operation in connection with continuing claims regarding the alleged price-fixing arrangements".
