Yahoo moved to counter Google’s push onto mobile handsets, unveiling a development platform of its own for creators of mobile internet applications.

News of the plan, which was announced at the annual Consumer Electronics Show, comes two months after Google took the wraps off its Android mobile software, along with an alliance of handset makers who planned to use the technology.
