View of the day: Eurozone growth

Market expectations that the next move in eurozone interest rates will be upwards imply too sanguine an outlook for economic growth in the region, says David Page, economist at Investec.

“We forecast the European Central Bank to cut rates next, although the persistent pressure of energy price inflation on the headline rate has seen us push back the timing of our call to December,” he says.
