OECD forecasts 9% rise in the number of jobless

The number of people out of work in developed countries is expected to rise by 9 per cent to 34.8m by the end of next year as the credit crunch continues to affect world economies, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, reported yesterday.

Vulnerable groups such as migrants and unskilled youngsters would be most at risk, said Angel Gurría, OECD general secretary.
