Mullen warns of ‘third front’ for US

The chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff warned on Wednesday that an Israeli strike on Iran could open up a “third front” for the US in addition to the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, calling instead for dialogue with Tehran.

In comments to the press, Admiral Michael Mullen, the senior US military commander, also said he was “deeply troubled” by what he said was the increasing effectiveness of the Taliban in Afghanistan.
