Europe’s miners damaged by coal price drop

Mining stocks led European equities lower on Wednesday as coal prices fell, sharply outweighing a recovery in the battered banking sector.

French miner Eramet tumbled 13.2 per cent to €500, tracking its peers across the Channel lower and leading the benchmark pan-European FTSE Eurofirst 300 down 0.7 per cent to 1,167.92, erasing early gains.
