India fears backlash from Maoist victory

India’s violent underground Maoists (known also as Naxalites) will be emboldened by the stunning political breakthrough of their counterparts in Nepal, analysts in New Delhi warned on Monday.

“There is nothing positive for the Indian establishment in the election result in Nepal,” said Ajai Sahni, executive director of the Institute for Conflict Management. “It will provide a great inspiration and give a new intensity to the Indian Maoist movement.”
