Crisis leaves G7 on its last legs

The Group of Seven, a body born in crisis, is set, 37 years on, to die in crisis. It will enjoy a last hurrah next year before its regular meetings and bland statements on global currencies are consigned to history, officials said on Friday.

Few will mourn the regular G7 meetings of finance ministers and central bank governors, so low has its stock fallen.
