Sir, Your editorial, “Testing times for bank regulators” (October 22), portrays the debate over separating commercial and investment banking as a false dichotomy. According to your editorial, imposing higher capital standards would render the separation issue moot by making all institutions ultra-safe and therefore no longer threats to the economy.
