Royal Mail told to cut costs or face split

Royal Mail should be split in two if it fails to modernise its business and cut costs, the industry regulator warns on Thursday.

Nigel Stapleton, Postcomm chairman, told the Financial Times the priority was for Royal Mail drastically to improve its efficiency. One option would be to separate its sorting operations from doorstep deliveries.
