Strong banana prices give Fyffes a lift

Stronger banana prices helped offset difficult pineapple markets as Fyffes, the Dublin-based tropical fruit importer, lifted underlying profits by 47 per cent.

Profits before exceptionals for the half-year to July rose from €10.4m to €15.3m (£13.3m, $21.9m) on flat sales of €400m.
