Saakashvili warns on Russia’s reaction to crisis

Mikheil Saakashvili, Georgia’s president, voiced concern on Wednesday about the impact of the global financial crisis on Russia, saying it could tempt the Kremlin into new “foreign policy adventures” to distract Russian public opinion.

“The financial crisis could work both ways. It could make the Russians more realistic, down to earth and pragmatic,” Mr Saakashvili told the Financial Times in an interview.
