Brown promises tax cut to appease business

Gordon Brown promised to repair the government’s battered relations with business on Thursday and said he aimed to cut corporation tax further, in the second attempt in as many days to stop UK companies moving abroad.

Acknowledging the extent of corporate anger over recent tax increases, the prime minister told a business audience: “The dialogue I agree can be better and will be better.”
