Regulators call for greater hedge fund scrutiny

Hedge funds should be subject to far closer scrutiny from regulators – including their pay structures – according to proposals published on Monday by a group of international watchdogs.

The six principles laid out by Iosco, or the International Organisation of Securities Commissions, called for funds to register and accept scrutiny of their positions and working practices. Regulators should also share more information to help monitor funds’ cross-border activities.
