And Bernie said, “let there be night”, adding the usual “or else”. And so it will come to pass on September 28 that Singapore’s first grand prix will take place after darkness falls.
Threat to British Grand Prix
It would be hard to overstate the delight of Singaporeans to be awarded a 2008 grand prix and a contract to stage at least four more, particularly given the island state’s groundbreaking role in hosting F1’s first-ever night race. The deal appears to be a win-win for both the Singapore government and its private sector partner in the venture, Singapore GP, part of the huge and diverse Ong Beng Seng Group.
