Car bomb kills six in Iraq’s Sunni stronghold

A car bomb has killed at least six people outside the police headquarters in Saddam Hussein’s home town of Tikrit as insurgents struck yet again at Iraq’s beleaguered security forces ahead of January 30 elections.

Hospital officials said the six dead and five wounded were all members of the police force in Tikrit, a Sunni Muslim stronghold 175 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad.
