Blair’s new role is break with tradition

By accepting a position with JPMorgan, Tony Blair will be clearing a path into the private sector that former Labour prime ministers have largely chosen to avoid.

While there is no template for a life after Number 10, most former incumbents have lolled back on the cushion of inherited wealth and busied themselves writing books, pursuing their hobbies or love of whisky and giving speeches to any American with the money and inclination to listen.
