Chris Brammer is about to open what he calls Britain’s first real Las Vegas-style casino. From July 6 the Isle of Capri in the basement of Coventry’s Ricoh Arena, home to Coventry City football club, will provide 130,000 sq ft of gaming tables, slot machines and poker, a private room for high rollers and a members-only club.

The decor will be lavish. A 35m waterfall will dominate the entrance as visitors descend on to a marble floor, past tropical plants, to enjoy not just gaming but fine dining, cocktail and sports bars and nightly music and dancing.
