High Court intellectual property disputes jump

The number of intellectual property disputes launched in the High Court has jumped by 33 per cent as businesses fight harder to protect market share in the recession.

According to the latest judicial statistics, there were 562 intellectual property cases in the High Court in 2008 compared with 422 in 2007 and 230 in 2006, said EMW Picton Howell, a commercial law firm.
