Opposition enlists voters in battle to clip Chávez wings

President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela faces a formidable electoral hurdle on Sunday, the outcome of which will determine whether he can deepen his self-styled Bolivarian revolution or whether a resurgent opposition will check his momentum.

Some swing towards the opposition is expected inpoll contests in 22 out of 23 state governorships and 328 of 335 municipalities.
