Economists cast doubts on China's GDP data

China's gross domestic product growth figures, released late last week, have revived longstanding scepticism about Chinese official statistics and their accuracy as a gauge of activity in the world's fastest growing economy.

The GDP figures recorded growth from July to September at 9.4 per cent, almost exactly on par with the first two quarters, which came in at 9.4 and 9.5 per cent respectively.
